Re: 1893 SRC in 38-55 barrel markings?
For what it is worth I have a 1893 src in 30-30 serial number 180098 I think it has
a DOM of late 1898 ? barrel good markings on the address and the cal. but it is
not marked Special Smokeless Steel and the only marking on the underneath
side is the jm proof mark.

Re: 1893 Date of Manufacture? S/N A555X
With no records after 1906 with serial numbers being recorded at around 355000 anything past that mark is just a guess. The original set of serial numbers seem to end around the end of 1915 at around 450000 or a little beyond. It then seems that Marlin (Marlin-Rockwell) used a different series of nu...

Re: Opinion on Model 1893 for sale
You very well could be right about the exposure being a selling factor. I am sure that any deserving commission would not be turned down LOL I have been meaning to ask you and keep forgetting I nose around in the Winchester World quite a lot searching for tidbits of information that could be related...

Re: Opinion on Model 1893 for sale
I think we agree about the wood be refinished at some point and time. It does appear to be correct except for that. I pretty much have every thing I need in the Model 1893 or can afford. What I don't have and seldom see is the 22 inch barrel especially in TD. If this one had a pistol grip and checke...

Road King Check out Bill Goodman's Model 1893 TD 38-55 and tell me what you
think? I would like to hear from you to Rick. I am not really looking to by it but it
may need someone to take it home.

Re: changes at Cody
gunrunner; Thanks for your quick reply. A few years ago to in searching for more information on the history of the Marlin era I decided to further my education and search for as much information on the W brand and see where you could compare the two companies as they were both in the same business s...

Re: Telescoped 1893
Daville. I waited a while before offering a reply to your question, there is not a lot of information about the early scoped Marlins and i thought someone with more knowledge might offer up some information. The Wollensak scope might be a little late for a Model 1893. I think they were in bussines i...

Re: model 1889
dute1952: Your Model 1889 has a very odd length barrel of twenty two and three fourths inch. You can check your barrel length by inserting a cleaning rod into the muzzle end of the barrel and letting it rest on the bolt with the action closed then mark the rod and meausure the distance and the resul...

Marlin Established 1836
First off I don't keep up with the uptodate Marlin's as I have very little interest in the post WW11 Marlin's . I was looking around on E-Bay and run across a 2013 Marlin Catalog. The cover was very eye catching and I was a little impressed but something didn't look right so after looking closer I d...
