Re: Marlin 30-30 Model 93
It would seem Savage and Stevens weren't spared either! When the US Government began to look into war profiteering after WWI, Savage/Stevens records were destroyed in a fire that most feel was arson under Westinghouse's ownership. At the same time the high level managers of the firm were relocated ...

Is Marlin Levergun Manufacturing Still Viable ? (Sept 2013)
. I know Marlin shows leverguns in the 2013 catalog on their website, but are any actually being made since Remington shot down the levergun production indefinitely, a year or two ago, due to QC issues ? IOW, does anyone definitely know if new Marlin leverguns are currently (Sept 2013) being manufac...

Re: Marlin 38 22 Pump
I feel for you folks - and (of course) happy as a clam that mine has no issues. I was finally able to trade for it a few years ago, from a long-time friend who had bought it at a CT gunshow we attended 20 years before that. I was jonesin' for it all that time, but he'd only let loose of it when he r...

Freedom Group Closes The Marlin Division
Per John Taffin:
ON FRIDAY THE FREEDOM GROUP ANNOUNCED THEY WERE SHUTTING DOWN MARLIN PRODUCTION DUE TO QUALITY ISSUES. THEY LOST THEIR KEY PRODUCTION PEOPLE WHEN THEY MOVED. ONE IS NOW AT RUGER AND THE OTHER AT COLT.
sad, but inevitable..........

Re: Years of manufacture for waffle top.
AFAIK, the waffle top was discontinued in the early-mid 1950's ( ca.1954 ? ) , when D/T the receiver tops for scope mounts became standard.

The New Marlin Comedy Show
I hope you're as entertained as I am. "This auction is for a very nice Marlin 1889 Safety Lever chamber in 38-40 WCF. This is a very rare model because of it's 28" barrel, which only 2,260 were made compared to the 26" version where almost 40,000 were made. This gun is in good conditi...

Re: What components does Marlin forge on 1894c?
AFAIK, every part I listed is individually forged from a single chunk, then machined to final shape excepting the hammers, from which IIRC several are sliced from a bar machined from a forging.

Re: the deluxe texan
I dunno how many were made, but given that they were only made for 2 years - I would WAG that there was most likely not more than a single, or possibly two, production runs of them during that period - so, less than 5,000 ? I know they bring over $800 today, in excellent condition - and probably mor...

Re: Model 78?
The only "Model 78 rifles" that come to mind, that were centerfires available in .270, were the Remington M78 Sportsman econo-boltgun and the Browning B78 Single-Shot Rifle - in addition to the rimfire Sako M78 .22's, of course. Marlin did offer several different "7" models of ce...

[ I might but I have never seen nor heard of a pointed 44 Mag. bullet, so once again, not believeable. ] FWIW, The post referenced had the mag tube .44 Mag cartridges fire - NO pointed boolits: "I had 6 rounds go off at once in the the mag tube of a .44 Mag M92 Puma. They were soft lead flat no...

Re: 336A Quick Question
[ I have never actually seen scientific proof that it is even possible to have a magazine discharge cause by the following bullet. Lots of claims but no actual verifiable proof. ] You might want to check out EVERY post by Muskeg13 in this thread over on castboolits - with pics/etc of an AD in the tu...
