Re: 1894 question for Regnier

Thanks Guys, I can't return it. That's OK. I considered that when I bought it. I like the gun. The wood and metal matches good. It's been together a long time. Excellent bore and a good ladder sight.

Re: Two Model 1889s ..same serial number

I had an 1889 a while back that was factory engraved and if I remember right, checkered pistol grip with a 28" 1/2 oct bbl. The bbl had an 1893 patent date. A letter from Cody for that ser# showed a standard rifle. I was pretty happy when Regnier found another gun with the same ser# that matche...

1895 Ser# question

I've got a question for Regnier. I've got an 1895 ser# 131,298. Brophy's says 131,180 is the lowest ser#. That would make mine at most the 118th one built. I was just wondering if all or most of the guns between 131,180 and 131,298 are 1895's. Thanks, Dave

Re: Model 1893 Barrel Markings

I was reading through some of my old realoading notes and came upon this.25-36 Marlin. Originally 25-37 developed by William V.Lowe. Around 1893.Adopted by Marlin for the 1893 in 1895.When loading in smokeless powder in early rifles not marked Special Smokeless Steel never exceed 2000 fps. This was...

Re: Model 1893 Barrel Markings

Maybe they forgot to mark some barrels. I've had three 1895's that weren't marked Special Smokeless Steel. Brophy's says all 1895's were smokeless steel.

Re: Model 1936 PCMR rifle- Need buttplate!

Hi Dan, I can't really help you with any of your questions. You might be able to get one of these to work. http://vintagegungrips.net/mabu1.html Or maybe we can talk them into reproducing the correct one. I've got a 1936 PCMR rifle [not carbine]. It's got a ton of condition and case colors, but it t...

Re: the deluxe texan

I've never seen one. I've had lots of scarce 336's. Oct's, Zippers, Marauders. I've had 4 336ER's and seen others for sale here in New England. I always figured the Deluxe Texans were all in Texas.

Re: 1893 "For Black Powder"

Hi Pete, I've got some "Black Powder Only" 1893's. They're marked on the barrel, not the reciever. The recievers were originally blued . I shoot mild smokless loads. I don't recomend it, but two of mine came from old timers that shot nothing but factory ammo for generations. How does the 2...

Re: Odd marlin 38-55 cal?

That looks like a gun I was trying to buy for the barrel a while back. If the center of the rear sight dovetail is about 2 1/4" from the reciever it could be a carbine bbl.

Re: Marlin 1893 25-3(?) Octagon Barrel

Dave, I learned a long time ago to never say never, especially when it comes to Marlins. I just can't believe that Marlin would stamp a barrel with Winchesters caliber. They even went so far as to invent the ".32 HPS" nomenclature so they wouldn't have to stamp the barrels ".32 Winch...

Re: Marlin 1893 25-3(?) Octagon Barrel

The .25-36 Marlin is 0.08" longer than the .25-35 WCF, making it impossible to shoot the Marlin cartridge in the shorter chambered Winchester rifles. However, shooting the .25-35 WCF in a slightly longer chambered Model 1893 .25-36M is perfectly safe, and it has been common practice since thes...
