SOTDave;
Rest assured, your Marlin Model 1894 was made by Marlin and NOT Remington. The JM mark may be under the forearm or Turnbull buffed it off. You are correct, it is a 1973 made gun.

Re: Marlin Model 93
Centgral PADan; The designation of Model '93 started in 1921. The earliest of these marked guns had the serial number up near the forearm, but was later moved back, under the lever. So, it would appear you have an early Marlin Model '93 that was made in 1921. The trademark Marlin Bullseye started in...

Nancie;
The last High End Marlin sold in the North East for about $50k, so you will want a reserve somewhat close to that. A good auction company that can be trusted.

Time is getting closer, best make hotel reservations as soon as possible before the best ones sell out. Table reservations will be going quickly soon as well, so make those reservations too.

Re: 1881 Collection Addition
Brian; I have recorded numbers 285 and 292 as not rebated. But, I have number 287 as rebated along with number 569 as rebated. The numbers are all mixed up in these early Model 1881 Marlins. There is a pretty clear line around the 300 numbers. Some rebated a little higher, but some non-rebated below...

Stevenminix;
The "K" serial prefix indicates that this Model 336 was manufactured in 1953. Otherwise, not much else we can tell you without a more detailed description, such as barrel length and magazine length.

Re: Vintage/Antique Marlin Rifle
Nancie; Be careful. Some of these auction companies will give you a high estimate to get you to consign, but not deliver in the end. Or, they will get one of their "friends" to bid, and will hammer sold quickly when their "friend" has the bid. It has happened more than once and t...

Oldbee;
If this is a serial number from the old factory records, it is a Model 1889 in .38-40 caliber with a 24 inch octagon barrel shipped in 1890.

Nancie;
I read most of the posts on the other site, and if you decide to go the auction route, be careful. Some of these auction houses are not so reputable, if you know what I mean. They will tell you one thing, and when push comes to shove, you get less than expected or should get in the end.

Re: Vintage/Antique Marlin Rifle
Nancie; I saw the photos you posted at the other site. What you have a Grade Number 5-3 engraved Model 1893 with the addition of gold and platinum inlays. Normally, a 5-3 engraved gun did not have the gold and platinum inlays, and was added to any grade of engraving at additional cost. Marlin presen...

If it were military issued, it should have an Ordinance Bomp stamped somewhere on the metal.

The "A" prefix would tend to indicate that your Marlin Model 19-G was made in 1916.

Nancie; Membership to MFCA is $40.00 per year with a $10.00 initiation fee the first year. Or, you can pay 3 years for $105.00 and save $25.00. What you really need to remember is the range of serial numbers that are available. If the serial number of your client's gun is out of the range of numbers...

Re: Vintage/Antique Marlin Rifle
Nancie; Two places have copies the original factory records. One is at the Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, Wy. They charge a fee for a "Factory Letter". The other place is right here. We have a copy of the original factory records, and will look up any serial number for free, but will withho...
