Re: Model 1893 - Lever screw removal
Good Luck A impact may be needed . I have seen guys that peened the screw opposite the head so they would stop coming loose. You will have to drill it to release the pressure and find a replacement screw

Re: Model 1893 - Lever screw removal
Patience!!! It took years for it to rust in place. Give the penetrating oil time to work. Heat it, add oil let it cool. Impact tools will work but time is still important, give the oil time to work.

Re: 1889 bad barrel
You might find a good used barrel on e-bay But I have relined several .25-20 barrels with great success. Brownell's sells the liner and I think 3-D reamers will rent you the drill and of course the reamer. If you plan on shooting it , this the way to go. If you are uncomfortable doing it I offer a f...

Reloading for .40-82
Ok I bought a set of Redding dies for a .40-82. Slugged the barrel and found I should use a .412 lead bullet. I spent a week forming brass from .45-90 brass. Cut to a 2.400 length. Turned the brass neck area down so I could load a .412 bullet and have release clearance. Loaded 25 grains of recommend...

Re: New 1895 LE .45-70
Well the answer from Remington-Marlin is "standard production finish". I have offered to leave them replace it with a Cowboy octagon barrel that has a nicer finish then my polished barrel but haven't gotten an answer. There is always hope but I have a feeling what I got is what I get.

Re: New 1895 LE .45-70
I was wrong when I said B checkering. You are correct. The comb of the stock is not as I remember it. It is thick and ends abrupt. I can not post pics on this sight, but if you give me another e-mail and I will forward my pics and text with Remington-Marlin

New 1895 LE .45-70
Just received my 1895 LE that I ordered in February. I don't know to rejoice or cry. The wood is nicely figured and the B checkering is done nicely but the fit to the action is poor. The engraving and gold inlets are great. Bluing is good but the barrel and action are two different polished finishes...

Have you held the rifle? They have some impressive rifles up for auction. I plan on attending but may not be able to afford to buy, after seeing some of the last pricing

Re: 1881
Sorry to interrupt, but I also have a rifle with serial numbers not matching the roll stamp. I just purchased a 1881 as a shooter. The bore is great but the rest looks like it was left in the barn. All numbers match in the action and butt stock, haven't looked under the forearm. My point is the seri...

Matt finished Barrel
Today for the first time I held a Marlin 1889 with a matt finish 1/2 round 1/2 octagon barrel deluxe with 'B' checkering. The flat as well as the round top sections were matt finish. The rifle was lettered from Cody but no mention of the matt finish. Are there any records the give you a hint of how ...
