Re: 92 short mag tube

Thanks Marlinman. I think 1.5 " past the forend cap will look just right. If I ever figure out how to post pictures, I'll show how it ends up (i'm much better with a lathe than a computer !)

92 short mag tube

I saw a 92 barreled action for sale on GB with a half octagon half round barrel. it was long if I remember about 26". I couldnt tell from the pictures what the mag tube attachment point looked like. I was out bid but it got me wondering if they ever made any with shorter mag tubes. I bought a b...

Re: Ammo Marlin Saferty 1892

Buffalo arms online makes new ammo but very pricey i think its close to 100 bucks for fifty rounds. As no one makes 32 Long Colt ammo or brass anymore they resize 32 S&W long brass down to duplicate the original cases. if you buy a box or two just to relive that experience w granddad it may be w...

Ok so higher rings are avail on ebay for a mere 85-120 bucks. The really sad thing its not a Sako base at all just a flat bottom base and some bubba ...

322 scope mount

I recently bought a nice 322 it came with a one piece scope base. the rear ring is held in by redfield/leupold style screws from both sides and the front ring is held in with a cross screw that goes thru the mount from right to left. is that a factory mount ? if so who made it and are higher rings a...

Re: 39a from sears

Thanks Regnier, the dovetail slot is perfectly clean with perfect bluing so i wondered if maybe these scoped 39a's were sold without a rear installed is there any particular collector value to these Sears guns as I'm not real impressed with the weaver B4 and might want to drill and tap the receiver ...

39a from sears

I just purchased a really nice 1954 L prefix 39a with a weaver B4 scope mounted to the barrel. I have read elsewhere the these guns were drilled and tapped by marlin for sears and sold with the scope. the gun only has the usual markings from marlin but the weaver scope is marked j c higgins. so far ...

Mod 92 with letter prefix serial number

I recently acquired a very clean "Model 92" with a C prefix serial number C68xx about 95% blue on barrel and receiver with "Marlin Firearms Co" roll mark on barrel. Most of what I can find on the net lists a capital C or small c as 1945 or 46. My understanding was that the 92 was...

Marlin 1892 upgrade to 32 S&W

The Marlin 1892 rifle in 32 colt is almost the perfect woods rifle for small game. Its light slender and a joy to handle and shoot. Most are reasonably accurate but black powder rotted out bores are not uncommon. Rifles with poor bores can generally be had cheaper and can be relined for a reasonable...

Model 57 receiver made from model 60

I recently received a model 57 in 22lr,l,s with the aluminum receiver. On taking it apart, i noticed the receiver had the same small notch that the model 60 has to retain the end of the recoil spring rod. Did they just take model 60 receivers of the line and mill them for the bolt ? Are all the alum...

56 or 57 convert to compression spring

The Achilles heel of the 56's and 57's has always been their weak hammer springs and misfires. In looking at the action I think a block could be installed above the lever lock with a hole in it for a spring plunger and a compression spring fitted to a small notch in the back of the hammer. Has anyon...

1897 with A prefix

Posted this on the rimfire board but I'll put it here as well.

I have a 97 with a ser# of A3700. What year would that have been made ?
