Re: Stock and forarm for a 39A
My 39A looked like this. http://atvhugger.bizland.com/pics/Marlin99/39a001.jpg I ordered a stock set from Numrich for a Marlin 1897 Century Limited. The price was right at $48 for the stock and $24 for the forearm. The 1897 has a octagon barrel so the forearm required a little fitting to work with t...

It could be "C3030". Marlin made a 336 for Coast to Coast, I'll bet that's what you have.

Re: Marlin Owner Manuals
There was, Steve's pages, but he has taken down his gun manual pages.
Marlin has them for download for all of thier current stuff, the 336 hasn't changed much except for the safety.
http://home.epix.net/~damguy/moss2a.jpg
Maybe someone knows of a place for the older ones.

That's true....something isn't right here.marlinman93 wrote:Are you sure that 39a is only a 5 digit serial number? I agree with Wishbone, it might have a prefix letter, or maybe more digits?
And to the original poster: How many times are you going to ask this? Once is enough.

Re: marlin 39a question
It was made in 1977. Marlin year of manufacture maybe determined from the following list of letter/numeral prefixes to the serial number: 1946-C 1947-D 1948-E 1949-F 1950-G 1951-H 1952-J 1953-K 1954-L 1955-M 1956-N 1957-P 1958-R 1959-S 1960-T 1961-U 1962-V 1963-W 1964-Y,-Z 1965-AA 1966-BB 1967-AC 19...

Re: And I Thought I Knew My Gun...39M
Snicker; That's a Mountie. Marlin used the same roll die to mark the Model 39-A (rifle with 24 inch barrel and pistol grip stock) and the Mountie (20 inch barrel with straight grip stock) 'till 1957 when they started marking them Golden 39-A and Golden 39-A Mountie. 1972 was when the 39 M desighati...

Re: New to the site...
Yes, that is a real nice 1971 39D you have there. I know that I would be very proud to own it.
MAYBE someone will come by with the production numbers of the 39D. I don't think the numbers would be very high.

Re: New to the site...
The 39D was made for a few years in the early '70's. It has a 20" barrel, pistol gripped stock and a different forearm that has a band rather than a cap like the regular 39A that has a 24" barrel and forearm cap. Very nice example you have there. I will guess yours is a earlier built one s...
