Marlin Lever Wreckers live large on ebay. I've bought more Marlin parts there than anywhere else.
I'm confident that .30=30 and .32 Sp parts will work with your .38-55.

Re: 1894 Marlin 218 Bee
Thanks. I tend to forget about the "modern" era 1894s. That would be and interesting caliber, however.

1894 Marlin 218 Bee
I just encountered a list of firearms that has an 1894 Marlin 218 Bee. Is this a custom chambering? I have never encountered or heard of a 94 in 218 anything. I see the parent cartridge is a .32-20, so that makes it plausible, but was this a factory offering or a custom rebarrel?

Really nice rifles! Good luck in the search for more. More is always better.... Well, mostly always.

Jamming on the lifter in 1895s, 93s, and 94s
I have an old (1899 vintage) 1895 Marlin. It is a parts gun that has an unknown, but troubled history. It has been rebarrreled, restocked and re a bunch of other things. Only one thing remains to make this a very functional rifle. It jams. I believe there are several forms of jamming in Marlins and ...

Re: Montana Vintage Arms Tang Sights?
I have more MVA sights than I can count. I use them on all my Marlins as well as many other rifles. However, the one I do not have is the Marbles copy. I will say that the rest of their sights are the benchmark for all other sights. They are the gold standard. I would anticipate the same of their Ma...

Re: "Marble"Gladstone peep sight
I believe your sight staff is in backwards. The screw in eye piece should screw in from the rear. The base looks right, but not the staff. I'm not sure how that can be actually. I'll have to look at my Marbles on my 1951 39a. You should be easily able to zero out to 100 yds. I usually zero for about...

Here! Here! Road King.
This place may not see a lot of activity, but it is, by far, the best source of information on Marlins of all types.
Thanks, Rick!

Re: Serial Numbers for 39A
Then I believe your serial number should start with the letter "H". I have one of these and consider them to be of the finest vintage.MarlinEric123 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:09 pm Thank you for the info...just found out my 39A is from 1951. Was my father's....he was an avid and successful hunter.

Re: Color case hardening
When Jim retired and moved to Wyoming, I think he stopped restoring old guns. He definitely did a wonderful job of instructing others on how to get great case color for those who wanted to try it themselves! Someday, I'll try it and this thread will be my tutorial. A friend of mine got into it and ...

Re: Color case hardening
That is some really nice work! I am amazed at the variation in the ways that people do this. You have quite an elaborate shielding and the block of steel in the receiver to retain heat. You also let the crucible sit for quite some time on the edge of the tank which was bubbling the whole time, befor...

Marlin 1895 front sight
Did Marlin 1895 square bolts ever come with a front sight other than the German silver blade that is a post and bead in profile? Specifically, did they ever come with a hooded front sight? My 95 is anything but a prestine collector. However, one of the original things about it is the badly bent and ...

Re: 1881 throats
Thanks for this! It confirms my hypothesis at least. I'm loading 70 grns of Swiss 1.5 with a grease cookie and wads and a 410 grn paper patched bullet. The paper patch part is pushing my luck but it makes me happy. Anyway, I don't want or need "vast quantities" of ammo to cycle. I would li...

I am interested in understanding how pre-smokeless lever guns dealt with fouling. As repeaters, wiping or blow tubing between shots, as is often done with single shots, is just not practical. So, how did these guns manage to function and maintain any semblance of accuracy using strictly blackpowder ...

I'll have to look at that next time I'm in there. I have not noticed any difference except size.
