Swamp Gun

Marlin Firearms by Brophy shows the Swamp Gun on page 429. Have one that is stamped "MARLIN SWAMP GUN" on the reciever, have another Model 55 that is the exact configuration but lacks the "MARLIN SWAMP GUN" stamping. Anyone know if some swamp guns were made without the stamping? ...

Re: Marlin Model 90 bluing

Timbolera, I would be very careful of refinishing the reciever. I have seen many Model 90's that have been buggered with. I can't tell you why but they have a tendancy to take on a plum color- very unnatural for a Marlin. Just one mans opinion- best of luck.

Re: 1897 Bolt (replaced?)

I have 92 and 97 deluxes with blued bolts. Seems that the blued bolts retain their color better than other parts of the rifle.i've seen this trend in 1894's. I would not assume that the better colors on the bolt indicate that it may have been upgraded. I would not go high velocity based on color, ju...

Re: ammo

I buy CCI long ammo to dispatch nusiances around the bird feeder. They are labeled "CB LONG" , the fine print says "sub sonic-low noise" They cost more than I like to spend for 22 ammo but it keeps the neighbor complaints down. Don't know why but the local supplier only stocks th...

Re: 1889 15" carbine

This number does not show up as a 15" barrel on my Firearms Curios or Relics List put out by the BATF. However there is one in 38 cal. with the number 53545- could your 1 be a 4? Good luck!
