Thanks...this rifle has 'The Marlin Firearms Co.' in a sort of fancy lettering and also says 'est 1870' no micro groove rifling...as to the stock is the Monte Carlo you speak of...very pronounced, or subtle...

I just found a great 81DL w/24" barrel in a pawn shop and I am wondering if the presence of the Marlin Bullseye in the stock would help narrow the year of manufacture? Also it has a plastic trigger guard and a nice walnut oil finish stock...it appears to be in original condition with the 12R pe...

I just bought a JCH Model 42..(Marlin 80), it has no serial # anywhere on the rifle, it appears in very fine condition...I think this must be quite old as there is no serial #...I have stripped it down completely...NFA was the first Control Act I think...am I right to assume that Marlin made these u...
