Re: 336 44mag stock
I did not know Marlin made any 336's in .44mag. I thought they were all 1894's.

Re: Different finishes on the wood stocks in different years?
I guess i'm not all that smart. How in the heck do you get a negative charge into a wood stock? I was always taught that wood is a non-conducter.

336 big loop carbine
Has any one seen the Marlin 336 big loop carbine with the laminated stock in real life yet? I have only seen pictures, but it looks really cool to me.

Re: Marlin 1894 serial number question
Regnier, I just picked up a Marlin 1894 in .357 with a Redfield 3x9 scope for $399. The metal is about 90% and the wood around 85%. The serial # is 1917XXXX. Does that make it a date of manufacture of 1989? And was the price fair? Thanks.

Marlin 1895
Does anyone know if any fire sights are available for an 1895 standard rifle in 45-70? My eyes are getting old but I really am not fond of scopes on lever actions.

White plug in Marlin stock
I just bought a Marlin 1895 in 45-70 Govt. On the bottom of the stock , just in front of the sling attatchment there seems to be a white plus of some sort filling a hole. I have seen this on other Marlins, but what is it for? Can anyone help?
