Re: Marlin 1894 25-20 question
I totally understand about the sentimental value, maybe even better than most due to my personal circumstances. Enjoy your upcoming reunion with your father's rifle. I'm sure once you have it in hand you'll be flooded with a lot of very precious memories you've probably forgotten about!

Re: Marlin 1894 25-20 question
Dan, Are you sure that the buttplate and the patchbox are made out of silver? In looking through the pics, both parts appear to have a slight yellow tint to them, and that is usually an indication that they are made from some sort of brass alloy. I've seen silver tarnish on older guns over time, but...

Re: Marlin 1894 25-20 question
Dan, This was the best I could do. I couldn't get the larger photos to save from GunBroker, so I did individual screen grabs, cropped the margins, then posted them. Anyone wanting to see enlarged versions of those above can use the GunBroker link you sent me if you want to post it. By the way, that ...

Re: Marlin 1894 25-20 question
Dan, I was really excited to hear you recovered at least one of your father's guns and can't wait to see the pics. I have an account on IMGUR so if you want, you could email them to me at "utvolsfan77@yahoo.com" and I'll post them for you here. However, I think Yahoo limits attachments to ...

Re: Marlin Cross-reference Guide
Regnier (gunrunner), Ended up being the high bidder on yet another Glenfield model 60 on a local online-only auction last night. Drove to pick it up earlier today and was pleasantly surprised by its physical condition. It didn't include the original box or manual, but appears as close to new conditi...

Re: z series marlin 336 in 44mag jm stamped .
Go to the "Guns Questions and Answers" forum, then to the "General Gun Questions and Answers" subforum. Read the three posts in the very first thread, "Posting Pictures" by Road King. That should get you started. By the way, lots of folks use IMGUR now instead of Photob...

Re: Barrel twist rates
Thanks! By the way, I see you hail from the Sunshine State.....what part are you in? I was stationed at Fort Leavenworth for almost three years in the early 1990s, right after the first Gulf War.

Barrel twist rates
Regnier (gunrunner), I know Marlin used a 1:16.0 twist rate on most of their .22 rimfire rifles. I'm trying to find out if that was also the case for the Glenfield models 10 and 25. I've found just about everything else I wanted to know, but I cannot seem to find much information on the actual twist...

Re: Model 90 Combination O/U
J7L2, Well that helps narrow it down a bit. My reference books show the Marlin Model 90 over/under shotguns were made in 12, 16, 20 gauge and .410 bore AND as combination guns, with barrel lengths of 26, 28, or 30 inch barrels. Guns made from 1937 until 1949 had a ventilated rib between barrels, whi...

Re: Model 90 Combination O/U
How rare or desirable are these? Found one, .22 LR over .410, condition 95%. 3 digit serial number. Never seen one before. All original finish, bores perfect. Quality looks good. Any comments or info? Any guess on value? Thanks, j7l2 Does it have double triggers or a single trigger? What is the bar...

Re: Cost of replacement parts
Regnier (gunrunner) & marlinman93,
Thanks for the additional information. Gunrunner, I'll have to check those additional sources for sure. Marlinman93 you make a very good point on original parts.
