I just picked up a 1974 Glenfield 30A. The rifle appears to look like stainless steel. A member of another forum says it is plated.
Can anyone confirm if Marlin made a plated or SS Genfield in the 1970s?
Also, how do I post a photo? I hit the picture icon, and {img} came up, but would not go to my files.

Havasumitch;
First off, the Glenfield line was Marlin's less expensive line of products. Therefore, they did not use anything of an extra production line item that would have added to the cost of the final product. So, your gun was not a Stainless Steel product, and was not factory plated either.
The first Stainless Steel products came out in either 1993 or 1994. Marlin did nickel plate a few models in 1992, but that was the only year nickel plated models were listed in the factory catalogs.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
