looking to purchase one in 38-40. have only seen pictures. serial #415123. the question i have is; the pictures show a blued reciever. were some blued? i thought that they were color case hardened???

That number should be around 1914-15 I believe. They were color cased from the factory, but a customer could special order the receiver as blued. But I'd be very suspicious of any blued 1894 also. Is the lever and hammer color cased? Even when a receiver was ordered as blued, the lever and hammer will be color cased. So if they're also blued it's even more likely it was improperly restored.
Pictures would help a lot!

thanks marlinman. fron what i can tell from the pictures; everything is blue, with a little wear. so, if redone; it was probably a while back. if the bore is good; i will probably buy it ($1350.00). seller is out of town until july 9 sat.
