"E" prefix = 1948. Nice rifle.
Whatever happens, we have got
The Maxim Gun
And they have not.

I am replying to this post in order to get an answer from the "airedaleman"
I also have (i think) a 39A. On the top after Marlin Firearms Co. it has Model 3? Then after new Havens Conn. it has 22S, L&L? my serial # is E2948, I understand that E is 1948 so what does 2948 refer to? Are charaters missing in the model # and the type of ammo used. And can you use JHP ect. in these rifles?
