Marlin Model 92 Questions

Post by SpudNuts »

I need some help. I got this Marlin Model 92 (1907 serial) .22 caliber rifle that I recently found unsold at an estate sale and was able to get it for a pretty good price (since it didn't sell). Well, there's a reason it didn't sell and that's because it's missing quite a few parts and also has some really strange things that have been done to it.

The question is, in the picture you'll see a post for the finger lever that doesn't have a slot. Every picture of the model 92 that i've found, has a slotted finger lever screw. Is this a screw that I could unscrew with some pliers or is it a permanent stud that i'm stuck with?

The reason I ask is because the hammer screw was missing and in it's place was another stud like this but screwed to the receiver with a hex machine screw into the stud (that's how the hammer was held in place). I was able to find a finger lever screw but before I try to wrench this thing out, are there any versions that it wasn't a screw but instead a post?

Also, does anyone know where the cartridge guide spring goes on the model 92??? Since most parts on this were missing, i've had to go by diagrams, pictures and videos to make sure I get every part I need and know where they go but can't seem to find where this part goes but sellers say that the 1892 had one. Thanks in advance.
