Hello All,
I have just been gifted my great grandfathers shotgun, as I am the only gun owner in my family. I am curious as to any information that can be provided. It is a marlin pump action, with an exposed hammer and no safety. Serial numbers 63161 and 64877 F. Any information tha youbguys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hook

Hook;

You have a Marlin Model 1898, "A"grade, exposed hammer, pump action shotgun that was shipped in early 1904. All Model 1898's are 12 gauge and usually had either a 30 or 32 inch full choke barrel. You gun was shipped with a 30 inch barrel with the serial number you listed.
That is about all there is in the way of information available at this time.
I hope this helps.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

My uncle has a Marlin 1898, 26" barrel, receiver SN 39046, barrel SN 62970F.
Can you please provide the manufacturer date and that this configuration is correct?
Thank you in advance
