Matt3810;

Are there any letters preceding that serial number? Marlin started making the Model 1894 in .44 Magnum in 1969, and at that time, Marlin utilized a letter(s) prefix to the serial numbers up to 1971. After that, the numbering system changed. A Model 1894 serial number should not start with "35" at any time unless there is something in front of those numbers.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

I have a 32-20 Marlin octagon barrel cowboy with the serial # is either 124286 or 184826 ?? my father had this rifle I remember as a kid and I'm 73 he had it forever ? Can anyone tell me when it was made ? As I want to sell it, have no one to leave it to.

The 184xxx number would be 1899, not 1895.
