New to the family - 39A

Post by MauserMike »

Just bought my first Marlin 39A .22LR - a new one.

I'm excited as a kid at Christmas. Looking forward to doing a little bit of everything with it - punch paper, plinking, small critters. I think its one of the last of its kind. I keep hearing rumours that Marlin may discontinue it.

Now comes the check the mail ritual every day for the next two weeks.

I would love another 39A. Mine is really my dad's from highschool, and I'm too afraid to use it much. My great-grandfather's Mod 37 pump action is a hoot!
Proudly own: 983 22mag, 981 22LR, Glenfiled Mod 15, 917 Mach 2, 70 HC, Model 60, Golden 39-A, and a couple others.

Apologies to all! I had two tabs open in Firefox and I posted to the collector's board instead of another Marlin users group.

A *NEW* rifle isn't going to be collectable at the moment :) Perhaps it will become collectable as the last of the finest if these rumours of discontinuation come true...

MauserMike,

I waited 4 months to get my 39-A, I even wrote Marlin inquiring as to weather or not they had discontinued them. They never responded.

I really do not consider myself a collector, as I only have 2 Marlins, a 17V and the 39A. But I do enjoy shooting them. I hope to have some quality time this next summer with the 39 to see how accurate it is.
