336 RC Find

Post by Bub Mc »

I have been watching this site for some time and have been a "Marlin man" for 30 some years. Glad I found it.
Anyway, Last week I came across a 336 R.C. serial P20XXX. It had a couple tint specks of rust and a blemish on the side of the receiver where the blue came off from something, but otherwise excellent condition with a pristine bore. The stock has what appears to be an oil finish.
I beleive this rifle was made in 1957 which puts it at 50 years old.
The owner of the shop looked at it and said, "Its old, how about $140?"
I took it.
It shoots a 2" group at 75 yds.

It's old and shoots 2 in. groups at 75 yards. How about I give you $160 and I can live with the groups. Sounds like you have a nice rifle at a very good price. Should be a keeper.
Do try to be safe. Always

I'm pretty pleased with it. I like the older ones. In my younger years I had a Mod. 39, I beleive it was, it had a scrolled "Marlin" on top of the receiver and a square bolt. Shot perfectly. I foolishly traded it away for something I don't have anymore either. If only we knew then what we know now???

Buying and Selling

Post by Horse Thief »

In my years of buying and selling, I've come to one conclusion TOO late. If you wanted it enough to buy it then if you sell it you will still want it. There's an old Cher song if I could turn back time.

I speak from experience guys, enjoy them while you have them. Just remember, although sad but true, every gun you own today will be owned by someone else in the future, as you're only the "present" caretaker.

Val:

Are you also planning on having a U-haul attached to the hearse?

Last year I snagged a 1966 RC on this site and it was .35 Remington. Great site. If I ever get around to taking more pictures of my guns, I'll post it here.
The Original Point and Click Interface was a Smith & Wesson.
