Marlin 336 stock variations?

Post by S.B. »

Will a stock off of a 336 made in 1971 fit on a 336 made in 1966 (both pistol grip rifles)? What years has Marlin changed the fit to rifle of their stocks? Or where can I find this information?

From my knowledge, it will work without any major modification. A "perfect factory" fit is not guaranteed, but I don't believe the trigger plate, stock, or tang was changed during this period. Brophy's book is the best reference, but also states there were too many changes over the years to list... good luck!
