1888 in 38wc ,hard to find??
hi, just picked up a 1888 in 38wc (38-40) needs wood and a good clean up. have a few 1893's in 38-55, and one 1881 in 40-65. never knew marlin had a rifle with top ejection, is this the only model with top ejection? bjsgear@hotmail.com

The 1888 and the 1881 were both top eject.
1888 wood is tough to find. Repro wood wont fit as it comes because of the shorter bottom tang on the 1888 vs. the model 1894. I found that by carefully fitting a small piece of walnut into the bottom tang chanel of a 1894 stock, the 1894 stock will work great!-Vall
Here's a picture of the one I just fitted with new wood:
That's Acraglass Gel with brown dye in it used to glue it in so there's no line where the two pieces fit.

Yes, no difference. The 1893/1894 stocks are the same.bjsgear wrote:hi, thanks, i have a precision stock for a 1893, i assume it will fit with the same filler, bryan.
