Marlin 22
I have ended up with an old 22 from my mother and neither she nor my father remember a thing about it. The only making we can find are Marlin Fire Arms Corp New Haven CT USA and slightly behind and on left side of sight it says 22 S.L & L.R. We looked under sight but no model number there. It is a single shot bolt action 22. Very plain stock, no designs what so ever. I would love any and all help with this possible Thanks.I have no clue how to post a pic but do have some.
Re: Marlin 22
I to have same model. "The Marlin Firearms Corporation New Haven Conn. USA <- 22 S - L & LR ->" . I have not located the model number either and would appreciate any help in this. It has a single piece trigger (not like the compund triggers I have seen for other Marlin 22's) with a spring for pushing the trigger forward and it is a single shot bolt action no magazine.

i also have the same 22...i'm in the process(with my son) of reconditioning the weapon. it was poorly taken care of with tons of rust. good news is that it is all exterior and interior is clean...i did notice that the firing pin is flat...is that normal? unfortunatly we didnt fire it prior to disassembly..would love to know the age/model number...our $20 investment is coming along nicely..it is exacly the same Marlin as easygoing55's description..

Yes, on a .22 the firing pin is flat and designed to hit the rim of the cartridge. That is why they are called "rim fire".

It's a chancey job and it makes a man watchfull....and a little lonely.
