3 Marlin 80's cleaned up

Post by Modhydro »

Here are the three Marlin 80's that my kids and I have been working on. Front to back is a 1957-1960 model 80 with a 22" barrel, a pre 1955 model 80 with ballard rifling and a pre 1955 model 80 DL with ballard rifling. I didn't like the factory stock so carved a new one from some maple I had in the shop. My youngest son did some modification to his stock in the front one. All three shoot great. I am in the process of machining up nice peep sights for all three of us. Both boys did a ton of work on theirs from the stocks to trigger work and touching up the blued metal. It was a great learning process. We got to shoot them this past weekend with my dad. Another generation is learing the enjoyment that this hobby can provide.

Very cool project and very well done! It's great to see the younger generations getting their hands dirty and enjoying it!

Great work on the stocks by the way, the custom maple is beautiful.

Keep it up!!!

I wound up earning my Appleseed marksman patch with it this winter at a "Winterseed." It was neat to beat out the 10/22 guys with an antique bolt.

Besides looking nice, it shoots incredibly well.
