Hi all,
I'm new to this site and new to Marlin firearms (only owned the old classic lever action 30-30 until now). I recently had a guy at work sell me a 27S in the 25-20m caliber ($150 with reloding dies, 2 boxes of ammo and 1 box of brass, thought it was a deal I couldn't turn down) and am trying to find info on it. The serial number is 15### and I have looked everywhere but cannot find a place to date the gun, does anyone know anyway to date the rifle or have any other information (any would be greatly appreciated).
Thanks all!

Wow did you get a deal !
Assuming that is, it has any condition at all left on it.

Re: Marlin 27S
Yes, it sounds like you got an exceptional deal.
Any pictures?
Anyway, I just found the following link for year per serial# (though its listed for lever-guns).
See if this helps

Re: Marlin 27S
The 27S was made from 1913-1932; your 5 digit serial number likely places it in the 1917-1918 range. There was likely a slowdown or stoppage of production during WWI, so if it wasn't completed beforehand, it could be an early 1920s rifle. Known serial range from Brophy's book is 57 to 61412. Very good acquisition price by the way!
