Marlin 1889 38-40 loading gate (spring)

Post by Delta-419 »

I have just acquired a model 1889 Marlin in 38-40 that is missing the loading spring and screw. I can not find a replacement, will a model 94 or 93 interchange with it. Or be smithed to fit?

The model 1894 spring and screw will fit, but not the 1893. You will need to get one for the .44 cal, and it may need a small amount of fitting.

Model 1889 Loading Spring

Thanks for the reply. It gives me a place to start. Numrich has the screw for the 89 but not the loading spring. I will look for a '94 loading gate in 44 caliber.

Be sure to get the loading gate with the screw, instead of using a 1889 screw. The threads are slightly different from the newer gates.
