Woodrow;
The Marlin 39 Century Limited Commemorative rifle was made in 1970 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Marlin Firearms Company. There were 34,197 rifles made in 1970.
Problem is, your serial number would indicate that your rifle was made in 1979. The system Marlin used was to subtract the first two digits of the serial number from 100 to determine the year of manufacture. In your case. 100 - 21 = 79 or 1979.
So we have somewhat of a problem to determine exactly what you have.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Since these leftover barrels were sold separately by Numrich, and Marlin offered the kits to convert any 39 to the Century Ltd. with medallion and buttstock plate. This could be the case with this gun. It very likely could be a made up gun from the Century Ltd. kits Marlin sold. I've still got a half dozen of these kits Marlin sold that included the medallion, plate, tacks, and epoxy to mount the medallion, all in a yellow envelope.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
