I had known about this set for a number of years but it hadn't been for sale. While attending a gun show out East the owner had it at the show for sale. It was showing a quite a bit of interest so I knew I had to make my move and add it to my collection. This 1893 TD rifle has pistol grip stock with checking. It is a two barrel set , both barrels are 24 inch, 1/2 round, sights are matching on both barrels, Calibers are .38-55 and .32-40. The rifle is in real nice condition with some case coloring remaining. Stocks still retain original finish.

Great looking set, and someone made a very nice case for it!
Years ago I came across a two barrel 1893 set that was similar pistol gripped, checkered, and half magazines. One was a 28" half octagon .32-40, and the 2nd barrel a 24" half octagon .32 Win. Spl. I always wondered why someone chose two .32 calibers? The different lengths made sense, as the 24" would be handier for hunting. I figured someone ordered the 2nd 24" .32 Win Spl barrel later when that cartridge was added to the 1893 Marlin.
I built a case for mine also, and it came out nice. But when I sold the set the buyer wanted to get the price lower, and asked if I'd sell it without the case? I did, and later sold the case to somebody else who had a Winchester 1894 two barrel set.

Yes, forgot to mention that the case is not original but was found by previous owner and the barrels, stock fit nicely in the case.
I copied the logo from inside cover of an early 1900's catalog I own and it's the bullseye shape with an 1893 ejecting in the center. I blew it up to about 4"-5" and glued it to the inside lid of my case to give it a factory look.
I have a case I built for my 1881 Emial Flues custom rifle and I used the cover of my 1899 catalog as a label for the inside lid of that case also.
I buy every old gun case I can find at our collectors gun show and rebuild the interiors to fit some of my nicer rifles. I like old original cases with age to use, plus saves me building the whole case.

Vall, that sounds like a good idea for a label for the case. I will have to see if I can find one or maybe a friend can e mail one.
