Model 93 Serial Number

Post by JJJ »

I have a Model 93 round barrel in 30-30 with a serial number of A8 that has been in the family for a long time. My records of ownership go back 4 generations, but my limited research has left me with few answers on manufacture date, etc. I'm hoping some folks here might have some knowledge on the subject and be able to help.

Thanks!

JJJ;

The location of the serial number on the Marlin Model '93 makes a difference as to when it was manufactured. If your serial number with the "A" prefix is up by the forearm, then your Model '93 would have been made in 1916.
If the serial number is under the lever, then it was made later, sometime after 1921. As of yet, we do not have a good handle on when the Marlin Firearms Corporation started using the letter prefixes with the serial number. There were several different letter prefixes used, and when each was used.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Thanks for the info! That is fun to know. It is in extremely good condition, and I still hunt with it every year.
