Hi all,
Still searching for info for a marlin carbine I have in 32-20 cal .S/n. 444982
I have not been able to find an approx. date of manufacture, or much info on it at all.
It has ladder sights, round barrel approx 19" long (where it meets the action) the magazine protrudes 1-1/4" past the forestock, which has a single band
....and it has a saddle ring.\It shoots well with soft cast bullets, great light rifle to carry around
I`ve been told all sorts of tales about this rifles history, but would love some facts.

With a serial number in the 444,000 range, puts the manufacture date in the late 1913, or early 1914 time frame. I have a Model '97 with a serial number in the 442,000 range that was "made in the fall of 1913" ( quote from the 1915 Marlin catalog ) so your carbine would be close to that known serial number.
