Troubles with new members trying to join?

I've been told by several people who've tried to join this forum that their attempts never went through? Also that they sent a message to "administrator" and got no reply to their request this route also.
Is there a problem with the forum that's stopping new members from joining?

There are certain email addresses that have been banned and cannot register. These were banned because of spammers that filled up the website with unrelated information.
One of those email addresses is gmail.com as it was one of the worst for the spammers to use. If any of the people you talked to want to register, they have to contact me by email and I can "unban" an address long enough to register them and then ban that address again after registering them. It is a process and I have to have a user name, password and email address to register and then approve them to post messages without waiting to post.
