Marlin 1881 Relic

Hi all form across the pond in uk
I have just unearthed a model 1881 in 45 Gov calibre which myself and my Italian friend are restoring, I have trie to enter the serial 6036 number in the marlin search engine but with no luck could you help us with this request ? please.

Also we are looking for a stock and butt plate any idea where we may obtain these items as the rifle came to me without the stock and rather rusty.

Serial number 6036 is a Model 1881 with a 28 inch octagon barrel in .45-70 caliber. It was shipped from the factory in New Haven, Ct. in late 1883.
A new replacement butt stock can be found at Precision Gun Stocks of Kerrville, Texas. The butt plate will be another matter. The original steel shotgun style butt plate is very hard to find. You might get lucky and find one on eBay once in a while, but it most likely will be pricy.

If you buy an 1881 stock set from Precision and it's setup for the 1881 steel shotgun style buttplate, it will also accept the hard rubber buttplate and Vintage Grips sells nice repros of those on their web site.
Get your stock set first, and measure height and width at the buttplate prior to ordering the buttplate, as they come in various sizes for different stocks. It should look like this one:

Does Vintage Grips have that Monogramed grip? I looked but couldn't find it.

Not sure if they have that one still? They used to carry it, plus the Ballard specific one that just had the word "Ballard" in a small circle around the lower screw hole.
There was a guy on Ebay selling both also at reasonable prices, but I just checked there also, and didn't find them there now. I bought 4 of them maybe a year ago from his Ebay listing.
