444 question

Post by Kyle »

Did Marlin make a straight stock 444 pre-safety in a carbine config??? ie. 20" barrel with a full mag tube?

Thanks

No. I have seen one that was converted from a rifle, and it would have sold, I believe. SW

Well, I have my steel-toed boots on! :D I did not mention the 444T as Kyle specified a 20" barrel, and if my memory has not left me completely, the 444T did have a straight stock, but the barrel is 24".

At least the one in my safe has a 24" barrel.

My 444P is a sweet rifle and I shoot it more than any other Marlin ltely. I like a stiff dose of H322 under a 310 gr hard cast, gas checked bullet.

It is not easy at all to keep Marlins sorted out. I have been at it for 35 years & do not claim to know a third of what is going on. Thus the disclaimer in my sig line!

I have alway felt the 'Texan' designation was for the straight stock and didn't have a lot to do with barrel length, but I could be wrong about that.

One of the big hitters may be along for clarification.

Whatever you call them, I very much like the 444s!! It's my favorite lever-action caliber.

Best regards!! :D
