Marlin 30 push pin
Picked a model 30 needs lots of cleanup and TLC. My question is how is the recoil safety push pin retained? There was a small screw in the receiver, but the pin was free to be pulled out. The diagram on Gun parts shows nothing to hold it in. Any help appreciated. Tom

Yes, there is a screw that retains the Hang Fire Safety release pin. Apparently, if your screw is there, it is either not screwed in far enough,or is some how shortened and not reaching the indent in the pin to retain it in the receiver.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The screw was there, but Bubba had done some work on it. It turns out the threads in the receiver were stripped and the screw was just held in with a small peen to the screw head. It was too short as well. I had to rethread the hole in 4-40 and make a new screw. Works now thanks. Tom
