Marlin Model 27 serial #

Post by dinosailor48 »

I have a Model 27 with a serial number below 150.
Per "Marlin Firearms" by WM Brophy, 1989 pg 436, the lowest recorded serial # is 149.
Could this be an earlier version?

Dinosailor48;

Marlin would have started with serial number 1 on the new series of models, in this case, the pump action Model 27 that was improved later and became the Model 27-S. So, since your serial number is lower than the one Brophy had observed, number 149, yours is an earlier gun of the Model 27's than the one he recorded the serial number of and noted in his book.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
