Model 39 question

I have received a Marlin lever action 22 I cannot find any information on it searching serial numbers etc. It looks all original. The serial number is S2433. Can anyone tell me if it has any value or should I treat it as a normal 22 plinking gun? I would attach pictures but don't see that option. It has an octagon barrel and the only other writing I see on it says 22 S L & L R. The serial number was under the lever
