I have a butt stock that I believe is a marlin. Would like to know for sure. I can’t post pictures , so I will describe as best as I can. It has crescent butt, with hole steel. Also has hole in right side for loading. Straight bottom of stock. Hole in butt stock goes all the way thru it. Has a 1 1/2” inlet on top of stock and stock is 12” center length. Think it is for a marlin 1891 but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not positive I understand your description, but none of the various Marlin lever actions ever had a hole clear through them from end to end. Only a Marlin Ballard had a hole clear through and they didn't have inletting for top and bottom tangs. It sounds more like you have a buttstock for maybe a Model 1873 Winchester, but the short 1.5" inletting doesn't match that gun either.
Without a picture I'm probably not going to be able to make a decent guess.
