I have a marlin with serial number 102xxx
The top of barrel has the markings "Marlin Firearms CO.New Haven.CT. U.S.A. Pat Nov. 19. 1878. April 2. 1889. Aug. 12. 1890. March 1. 1892". The receiver is stamped "Marlin Safety".
Can you help me determine model, caliber, and year made?

Usually, would need the complete serial number to check the old factory records, but in this case, nearly everything in the 102,000 serial number range are Model 1891 in .32 Colt caliber, made in 1894.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Re: Marlin lever action
Thank you so much for your help!
I can add the full serial number, if you believe it may possibly make a difference. Also, do you have any recommendation for finding ammo and a center fire pin for this model? It currently has the rimfire pin.

The full serial number will only tell you the date the gun was shipped, and shape and length of the barrel. Wisner's used to sell firing pins, you might check them out at www.wisnersinc,com. Finding centerfire ammunition will be difficult, but check gun shows and some internet sights that offer ammunition, There is collectable ammo on Gun Broker and other sites.
