Model 1893 receiver

Post by Rustifer »

Hello, I purchased a stripped receiver a while ago and have been collecting parts to start a build. I’m curious to know how the gun originally came from the factory and what year. Upper tang is marked Model 1893 with number 222566 on the side of the tang. Has a left side support screw and top of receiver is marked Marlin Safety. Thank you

Rustifer;

Your Marlin Model 1893 receiver started out from the factory as a .30-30 caliber gun with a 26 inch octagon barrel and was also a takedown action. It was shipped from the factory in early 1901.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

I have 2 30-30 oct 26" bbl's that are long threaded ..assumed for take down, Haven't dug into the barrel of barrell's for sometime but in my notes one has the parts to connect to receiver and one not, notes also say the one with parts is a smooth bore...probably not from factory that way.. got more bb'ls in 30-30 but most are round.
