Marlin M1893 #144,XXX; 30-30
I have a Marlin model 1893 in great shape passed on from a grandfather who passed away. ser. # is in the 144K range. It has the marlin safety and is a 30-30 cal. Can anybody give me any info on this gun? also value?

With the limited information you provided, about the only thing to tell you is that it was probably shipped in either late 1896 or early 1897.
Value is dictated by the amount and condition of the remaining original factory finish remaining on the wood and metal. Without knowing these condtions, or presence of any factory options, it is not possible to give an estimation of value at this time.
