39a sight hood

i picked up a 39a at a gun show with the manufacture date of 1973 and it has the old stile sight hood . the one with square ends. i was wondering if this is the correct hood??? the oldest book i have goes back to 1975 and they have the new stile. can anyone give me the correct information THANK YOU !!
