Re: marlin 1897
You have a Marlin 1897 with a few special order features, such as: pistol grip stock, checkering, tang sight, half magazine, half octagon barrel, and crescent buttplate. Most 1897's were std. with hard rubber buttplates, straight grip stocks, full octagon barrels, and no checkering. Of course the star is not original, and will hurt the value somewhat.
The barrel appears to possibly be longer than the std. 24", maybe 26"? If so that would be another special feature. That's about all I can add.-Vall
