need help Identifying and finding this 39A

Could some please help? My dad had purchased a marlin model 39A in 1972 when I was born and gave it to me when I was 10. I had the rifle until I was 28 when it was stolen.I have been looking to replace it with one of it's exact kind, I have not been able to find it's equal. All of the ones I see have longer barrels and darker wood. The one I owned had a shorter heavy barrel with the stock and forearm being almost orange in color.Also, the part of the butt stock you wrap your hand around was straight,not curved. If anyone could help identify it or tell me where to find it,please let me know.....

I am not up on 39's so can only say there were several models made during that time so - did it have an octagon or round barrel, was the forearm fat or slim, did it have any engraving or special markings (NRA, Maurader) this may help folks figure out what he bought. Understand that he could have bought a brand new rifle that was from 1970, 71 or 72 and depending on what he thought it was may not have been a 1972.

Sounds like what you are looking for is the 39M or Mountie. They had 20" barrels and straight grip stocks.

Most likely a M-39a Mountie - +1
With wood stocks being a natural product, combined with aging over the years, you might never duplicate your memory of the stock color.
If you find a Mountie - Grab it !
