I'm a Winchester guy but have a few Marlins here and there. I found a very nice Model 93 today and actually thought it was a carbine till I looked at the forearm. The finish is still a solid 85-90% including the case hardened receiver. Serial number is A1054. The forearm is 8 3/8" of exsposed wood. The barrel is 19 3/8" to the front of the receiver. It has two rear dovetails. The one with a Marble blank is 5 5/8" in front of the receiver(about an inch behind the barrel address). The rear sight is a Marbles no. 64 that has a dovetail exactly 3 " from the receiver. The gun has a carbine butt. Front dovetail is 7/16" from end of barrel. I guess my questions are year of manufacture and if its an actual "short rifle"?

Re: Model 93 Short Rifle
achevyman75: I think it would be safe to say yes that you have a short rifle.
The Model 93's with the A prefix with the serial number under the lever seem
to all share some of the same features such as 20 inch barrels, no star , no bulls-
eye , and the rounded lever with no tab. The serial numbers seem to start with
very low numbers and end around the 3000 mark anyway that is what seems to
have shown up so far. I would guess they were made near the end of production
of the Model 93 in 1935.
